I started playing Solomon’s Keep just recently and noticed that I had no magic cabinet at all. I’m not sure if it’s a bug or not.

    It's not. In the first game there is neither the cabinet nor the annalist. The fastest way to make them appear would be start a game, delete it, start another game.

    Yeah, it's to keep from overwhelming a brand new player with stuff.
